A 12-year-old fatally shot his 9-year-old half-brother at their grandparents’ home in Jackson County, Ohio on Wednesday, before shooting himself dead with a gun he placed under his chin.
The boys have been identified as Austin Wiseman, 12, and his half-brother, Blake Campbell, 9, according to a Thursday statement by Jackson Police Chief Carl Eisenaugle.
The children were home alone when the shooting occurred. The older brother Austin is thought to have shot Blake in the head from a few feet away, then placed the gun under his chin and shot himself, the county coroner told the Columbus Dispatch.
The police are still investigating the incident and are not looking for any other persons of interest. It is not yet known whether the shooting was an accident.
