What’s particularly comical about this episode is that the hardcore Sandersites are saying that the what happened over the weekend is another example of how the process is “rigged” against Sanders. But the backstory tells a different story. Clinton won the Nevada Caucus on election day. And the Sanders campaign was trying to out-organize her in the post-election days conventions and caucuses. But it’s hard to get too self-righteous when you’re trying to win the post-election delegate allocation when losing on election day.
There are a lot of very committed people supporting Sanders and his campaign has already had a huge impact shaping the future of the Democratic party. But I would suggest that the breakdown, threats, stalking etc are partly the result of the Sanders team nurturing their most intense supporters with nonsense about the nomination being stolen from them.
