At the beginning of President Obama’s trip to Colombia, 12 Secret Service agents have been relieved of duty and sent home over alleged ‘misconduct’ tied to prostitution.
In itself, there are certainly bigger deals than cavorting with prostitutes. But for members of the President’s Secret Service team to be doing so on a foreign trip is actually a pretty big deal, especially in a country like Colombia racked by endemic violence and drug cartels. A classic invitation to blackmail and other forms of compromise.
