TPM is hiring a Features Editor who will work out of our New York City office. This is not just a new opening. It’s an entirely new position, one of we’ve never had before. So we’re very excited about the hire and very focused on finding just the right person.
Almost all of our news staff – editors and reporters – is focused on the kind of rapid-fire, iterative coverage of politics and news you know us for. We’ve created this new position to focus entirely on new areas we’re expanding into – opinion, features, longform articles, most of which of which will come from outside contributors. That means the time pace and the range of topics the Features Editor will work on will be significantly different from the rest of our editorial staff. This is an exciting an opportunity to help us expand TPM in a challenging, fruitful new direction.

Hiring: Features Editor
TPM is hiring an Features Editor. This is a full-time position, based out of our New York City office, tasked with overseeing opinion, longform and freelance contributors. The position includes a mix of story-assignment and story-editing as well as working with the Managing Editor to manage the editorial calendar and story budget. Applicants must have a broad familiarity with a range of topics, including but not limited to politics and current affairs, and the ability to work with writers to create quality content which engages, challenges and delights readers.
This is a new position created to continue TPM’s expansion into new areas and types of coverage outside our core focus on rapid-fire iterative coverage of politics and breaking news. As such the Features Editor will play a key role defining TPM’s voice and approach in these new areas.
Candidates must have at least five years of professional editing and/or reporting experience and must be ready to work in a highly collaborative environment and at the fast-paced metabolism of a digital news organization. Deep familiarity with the digital news space, along with a real familiarity with TPM and solid news judgment, are each a must.
