Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) wants Senate Democrats to approve of more of Trump’s nominees on Inauguration Day or else.

In a tweet Friday morning, Cornyn threatened to keep members in the Capitol all weekend if that is what it took to get Trump’s nominees approved.

Right now, Democrats have agreed to allow votes on just two of Trump’s nominees: Retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis to be the defense secretary and Gen. John Kelly to be his secretary of Homeland Security.

Democrats have said they still have serious concerns about some of Trump’s other nominees like Betsy DeVos at Education and Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) at Health and Human Services nominee, among many others.

According to CNN, if the Senate confirms only two nominees Friday it would be the least amount any president has gotten since George H.W. Bush was inaugurated in 1989.

There is very little Democrats can technically do to hold up Trump’s nominees forever. A rules change makes it so Republicans only need 51 votes to get their nominees approved, but Democrats can slow roll the process and burn valuable early days in the Trump administration.
