MOSCOW (AP) — Vladimir Putin’s spokesman says the Russian president is to meet U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday.

Putin is to speak to the United Nations General Assembly that day. It was not immediately clear whether the meeting with Obama would take place before or after the speech.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that Putin also plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the same day.

  2. Well, It’s about damn time! This chest thumping and sabre rattling by both of these guys is an embarrassment to BOTH their countries. If you’ve got a legitimate complaint about something that the other one is doing, you need to sit down with the principals involved, the guys who can make the decisions, and come up with a solution that both sides can live with. This stupid thing of exchanging insults and screaming about policy through the news media does absolutely no one any good. Be adults and do this in the adult manner, not in the “he-man, appease the wingnut and the chickenhawks” posturing that has been going on.
