This Week: Trump Wanted DOJ To Prosecute His Enemies

News broke this week of yet another reported attempt by the President to use the executive branch in the service of his own whims. According to The New York Times, Trump asked then-White House counsel Don McGahn in the spring about ordering the Department of Justice to prosecute Hillary Clinton and James Comey. Of course, neither Trump nor McGahn has that power, and even requesting an investigation would’ve raised huge red flags. According to former federal prosecutor Gene Rossi, the report detailed what could be an indictable offense. After a two-week delay, Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker’s financial disclosure forms have been made public. First things first: The forms were revised five times between his appointment as acting AG and their release.
