Weekly Primer: The War On Federal Employees Rages On

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced the pardon of conservative troll Dinesh D’Souza, following similar pardons for Joe Arpaio and Scooter Libby, sending a clear signal that he’ll use the power to aide political allies. Democrats this week published a May 9 letter from the Government Accountability Office’s general counsel, Thomas Armstrong, to White House Counsel Don McGahn about what Armstrong called a “new policy” at the White House and National Security Council of simply ignoring GAO inquiries. Democrats want hearings on this policy. Meanwhile, White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump’s brand secured its 13th Chinese trademark in three months, and USA Today reported that the LLC behind, which was created in 2017, earned the President $107,186 last year.
