This Week: Nick Ayers Is Leaving The White House To Spend More Time With His Money

Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Nick Ayers announced Sunday that he is leaving the Trump administration at the end of the year, rather than — as previously expected — taking a job as White House chief of staff. Word is, Ayers wants to spend more time on his career as a political operative: The rising conservative star is a power player in the lucrative business of television ad buying, and he is expected to run the main pro-Trump outside spending group. The Trump administration has proposed dramatically limiting the 2015 Clean Water Rule by redefining which bodies of water are technically considered “waters of the United States” — that is, those significant enough to be regulated. Under the Obama administration, the rule was expanded to cover wetlands and streams — a move that faced opposition from farming and industrial interests.
