Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Nick Ayers announced Sunday that he is leaving the Trump administration at the end of the year, rather than — as previously expected — taking a job as White House chief of staff. Word is, Ayers wants to spend more time on his career as a political operative: The rising conservative star is a power player in the lucrative business of television ad buying, and he is expected to run the main pro-Trump outside spending group.
