This Week: Anti-Muslim Group Claims ‘Weekly Standing Meeting’ At WH
The hits keep coming. FEMA Administrator Brock Long is under investigation for using government vehicles and a staff driver on personal time, in addition to putting FEMA staff up in hotels in North Carolina, on taxpayers’ dime, over long weekends, Politico reported. Long’s the latest in a line of Trump officials investigated for their spending. One unnamed official told Politico that DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen had “asked Long to consider resigning,” in the outlet’s words. Brigitte Gabriel (born Hanan Qahwaji), the notorious Islamophobe and founder of ACT for America, which spreads an anti-Muslim message to legislators and in local chapters nationwide, bragged recently of having “a weekly standing meeting at the White House,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. In March 2017, TPM reported on photos showing Gabriel at the White House with a staffer later revealed to be Paul Teller.
