This Week: Paul Manafort Meets With Mueller
Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is meeting with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team, part of a cooperation agreement following his guilty plea last month. Manafort went to the special counsel’s Washington, D.C. office Monday, and Politico spotted Manafort’s lawyers and one of the special counsel’s prosecutors grabbing lunch near the building. Mueller’s investigation may be narrowing its focus. The special counsel’s office confirmed this week that two prosecutors who had been working on the probe for the last year have returned to other work with the DOJ. One of those lawyers, Brandon Van Grack, was working on the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who will be sentenced in December. Mueller appears to still be following several threads, however, including investigating whether the President obstructed justice, and former Trump adviser Roger Stone.
