Julianne Escobedo Shepherd is a New York-based writer and editor and a cofounder of Hearing Things, a worker-owned music and culture publication. Formerly the top editor at both Jezebel and the Fader, she has written for Hell Gate, L.A. Times, Flaming Hydra, Rookie, The Guardian, Vogue, and many other publications. Her first book Vaquera, about growing up Mexican American in Wyoming and the myth of the American West, is forthcoming from Penguin.
