The Felon Voting Fight In Florida: On Monday, a federal judge in Florida held a hearing in a lawsuit challenging a law that will make it harder for ex-felons — whose franchise was restored with a 2018 ballot initiative — to become eligible to vote. The law requires that ex-felons pay off all fines and fees before they register — a mandate that could prevent 80% of otherwise eligible ex-felons from voting.
