Hello Prime members, and welcome to the weekend.

This week, President Donald J. Trump became the third president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The House passed two articles of impeachment: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Next week, we’re expecting additional filings in two cases: the House’s lawsuit seeking testimony from former White House counsel Don McGahn, and its effort to obtain underlying grand jury materials from the Mueller probe.

And finally, we unveiled the 2019 Golden Dukes nominees! Check them out here.

Happy holidays, and thank you for being a TPM member.

Here’s what happened in Prime this week.

  • Women played an outsized role in both the launch of the impeachment inquiry, and in building the case against President Trump.
  • The House withholding impeachment articles from the Senate has “unhinged the President perhaps even more than being impeached itself.”
  • Trump’s pressure campaign against Ukraine isn’t a bad act in the past he is now being held accountable for. It’s a crime in progress.
  • After a New York judge dismissed a state criminal case against Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chair could walk free immediately if he receives a presidential pardon
  • After Rep. Jeff Van Drew defected from the Democratic Party to join the GOP, can he hang onto his New Jersey congressional seat?
  • The legal representation of indicted Giuliani pals Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman offer a “potent example of how ‘in-the-family’ these matters are handled,” Josh Marshall writes.
  • Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn finds himself in a pickle as his sentencing date nears.
  • We got more information this week about a $1 million payment a Ukrainian billionaire made to Lev Parnas’ wife.
  • You might want to think twice about ordering that pork chop.
  • Some of the conspiracy theories first propagated by John Solomon in The Hill got a boost from a Russian disinformation campaign.
