President Donald Trump held a rally in March 2021 to commemorate the one year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic reaching the United States. Here is a transcript of his speech.
[Walks out to the Village People’s “Macho Man”]
Thank you, thank you very much. We love you, don’t we.
[Crowd starts chanting “four more years!’ “four more years!”]
Four more? That sounds pretty good. Maybe I’ll never leave.
This is a nice crowd, thank you. A good looking crowd! Thank you.
All the beautiful people who gave us a very beautiful victory by a large margin — much larger than the fake news reports would have you believe — a big beautiful margin that would’ve been even bigger without all the so-called voter fraud. I mean we had ballots in dumpsters, ballots in rivers, ballots being shipped to China, it’s terrible. A disgrace. People are saying I would have won by the biggest margin in history! In history, that’s right. A shame.
And our judges — our great Supreme Court judges — we love them right? Without our tremendous judges, radical Kamala and sleepy Joe would have stolen the election, let’s just say it. People are saying we won Pennsylvania bigly anyway, but we have great judges.
Today marks the one year anniversary of the coronavirus, often called the China virus, descending upon our country. We mourn the lives lost and pray for the families that are grieving — though let me say, there’d be a lot more lives lost we’d let Sleepy Joe steal the election. Death rates like you’ve never seen.
President Trump has guided us back onto a path of recovery and will open wide the economy, to let our small businesses — and we love them, don’t we? — thrive again.
I saw the Democrat governors say that the vaccines have been too slow. That woman up in Michigan telling the fake news media that it’s too slow.
[Crowd starts chanting “lock her up!” “lock her up!”]
I love that chant. A beautiful chant.
The fake news won’t tell you about all our winning. Back there, they won’t tell you about our winning.
[Crowd turns and boos media pen]
We’re turning the corner on the China virus. We’ll have people back in the churches, the big beautiful churches, by Easter, you can take my word on that. The virus is going down, the numbers are going down bigly, and that’s thanks to Trump.
We will drain the swamp and we will open the economy. Sleepy Joe wanted to shut it down, right? To shut down our businesses and our schools and our churches. He wanted a Biden lockdown, as I call it. But with our tremendous, beautiful vaccines — the Trump vaccine. They should put my name on it. We’ll look into that.
And there are the complainers, but we don’t pay too much attention to them, do we? Saying it’s too slow — I’ve never seen so much complaining. Those Republicans — I call them RINOS — saying they need more vaccine. But that’s, frankly, not my problem! We get these beautiful vaccines to the states. We gave them to the states. If New York and California can’t deliver, that’s not my problem. So crooked. So nasty.
There are also all of the wonderful drugs that have saved me, my special folks like Attorney General Giuliani and Vice President Carson, and others. And don’t listen to the fake news media — these drugs are free and available to every American who wants one.
But look. If you can’t get it, then we’ve sent hydroxychloroquine to all the nursing homes until the vaccine arrives. Don Jr. is over at FDA now, and he’s making sure that we’re on the cutting edge of new treatments to kill the deadly China virus. Frontline workers love him, and they love it, let me tell you. We’re even issuing beautiful branded medication in all our hotel rooms.
And a year ago we didn’t have any of this. No vaccine, no hydroxy, no nothing.
But some people, not many people, but some, weren’t happy about it. They tried to take it all away from us.
But we wouldn’t let them, would we?
[Crowd cheers]
And they tried hard. It was a massive fake vote. There were more fake voters then there were diers over the past year. But we exposed it for what it was, and we made sure that they would never even try something like that again.
Look at Texas, Mississippi, with their beautiful governors. They’re open for business now. It’s business that we haven’t seen on a level before, frankly. And it’s because of our vaccine, and because we made it nice for them and hard for the sore losers.
The sore losers. The ones who complain that the shots were coming too slowly, that we needed to slow everything down to approve them.
We don’t talk about them, do we? They have no right to get the vaccine.
That’s what I said to Whitmer in January. You said you don’t want it? Then we can’t give it to you. Next time, choose your words more carefully.
It’s been a long year. No doubt about that.
500,000 diers. It’s a nice, round number. Not pretty, but it could have been two million. Or more from the China virus, if we hadn’t blocked the travel.
But they were wrong. They were so wrong. They tried to use the China virus as a way of cheating, just a nasty excuse to change all the election laws at the last minute. But we didn’t let it happen, we stayed and we won.
So, my fellow Americans, what a year it’s been. We’re back and respecting the flag on a new level. And our country, over the past year we’ve taken her back. And we’re going to keep taking it back more than ever before.
