Trump And His Fox News Friends Drop ‘Deep State’ Theorizing At The Prospect Of War

As it broadcast live footage of bombings in Baghdad throughout much of 2003 and cheered the toppling of Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq, Fox News Channel’s ratings skyrocketed above other cable outlets, climbing through the peak combat phase of the Iraq War. In retrospect, the then-Roger Ailes-led network has been widely credited with equating American patriotism with support for a pro-military, strength-through-power ideology and planting it firmly into its viewers’ psyche.
