Betsy DeVos overruled staff who wanted to erase defrauded students’ loans from for-profit colleges. It’s the latest in a series of damaging stories about DeVos and doomed for-profit endeavors like Corinthian Colleges, which made promises to students it didn’t keep, leaving them deep in debt and flapping in the wind. Recently, a federal judge scolded DeVos and the Education Department for continuing to collect loan payments from ex-Corinthian students despite an order not to. “I’m not sending anyone to jail yet but it’s good to know I have that ability,” the judge said.
