Order Against N.C. Voter I.D. Law Expected: The war over voter ID in North Carolina may never end. A federal judge on Thursday previewed that she planned to issue a preliminary injunction against the most recent iteration of the ID requirement in the state. It’s unclear if the order will broadly block the requirement for the 2020 election, or if the judge will take a narrower approach — perhaps requiring that those unable to obtain the required ID be allowed to vote provisionally. Either way, it’s possible the order expected this week will be appealed.
