Trump loyalist Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) on Monday officially announced his campaign against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a bid to be the top elections official in the state that ex-President Donald Trump relentlessly targeted in his bid to steal the election in 2020.

For a sitting member of Congress to ditch his seat for a state-level administrative role is virtually unheard of. What’s behind this bizarre career move?
