The outcome of last year’s Alabama U.S. Senate election hangs over tomorrow’s Senate runoff in Mississippi. There are quite a few similarities: A GOP candidate laden with baggage. A mild, popular Democrat. An important election that, perhaps confusingly, is not on a Tuesday in November. And a race in which African-American turnout will make all the difference.
