I will just put that out here. It’s not at all clear to me that Rep. John Ratcliffe will ever be confirmed as Director of National Intelligence or perhaps even be nominated. Just on its face he’s really completely unqualified for the position – not that that means a great deal under President Trump. But there are at least a few GOP Senators who have what they see as a significant ownership of intelligence policy who I suspect will be at least skeptical. And Republicans will probably need almost every vote to confirm Ratcliffe.
