Sanders will announce his plans to seek the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday, presenting a liberal challenge to Hillary Rodham Clinton. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) holds a narrow lead in the Iowa Democratic presidential contest over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to a poll released Monday by the American Research Group.

The ARG poll showed support for Sanders at 48 percent of respondents, while support for Clinton stood at 45 percent. These results are virtually unchanged from an ARG poll released earlier this month, which showed Sanders beating Clinton 47 percent to 44 percent.

The ARG poll was carried out from January 21-24 by live telephone interviews of 400 likely Democratic caucusgoers. The margin of error was 5 percentage points.

  1. Two thoughts on this poll. 1. The margin of error is almost 9%. 2. In the cross tabs, Clinton leads among those most likely to show up at the caucuses. That’s all I’ve got.

  2. Another day, another poll. At least they marginally help the employment rate.

How lucky you are! How wonderful for you. Now, if you didn’t get another pro-Sanders poll, if you’d gotten a pro-Hilary poll, why, then you’d get another poll, except when it’s dark, when you’d have to give it back!

  4. Its + or - 5% margin of error. Not sure where you’re getting 9%.
