Former reality-television star Donald Trump has regained the lead in the Iowa Republican caucus over Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), according to a Monmouth University poll released Wednesday.

The Monmouth poll showed support for Trump at 30 percent of likely Republicans in the state, while Cruz took second place at 23 percent. In Monmouth’s December poll, Cruz had been beating Trump 24 percent to 19 percent. These results are consistent with most Iowa polling, which has recently begun to suggest a more consistent lead for Trump over Cruz.

Third and fourth place went to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 16 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

The Monmouth poll was carried out from Jan. 23-25. Pollsters surveyed 500 likely Republican voters using live phone interviews, with a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
