Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is gaining on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton among national voters, shrinking her lead to 15 points, according to a Monmouth poll released Tuesday.

The Monmouth poll showed that nationwide support for Sanders has surged to 37 percent, up from 26 percent in December. Support for Clinton, however, has declined to 52 percent from 59 percent in December. The tightening race corresponds with a fall in undecided respondents, from 8 percent in December to 4 percent in Tuesday’s poll.

The Monmouth poll was conducted by phone from Jan. 15-18 among 352 likely Democratic voters. It had a margin of error of 5.2 percentage points.
