Real estate mogul Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are in a dead heat in the Iowa Republican caucuses, according to a Loras College poll released Thursday.

The poll showed support for Trump at 26 percent and Cruz at 25 percent. These results show a much tighter contest than those of Loras College’s December poll, which had Cruz leading Trump 30 percent to 23 percent.

The survey is consistent with the majority of Iowa polling, which has shown a close battle in Iowa even as Trump sits on a huge lead nationally in New Hampshire. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) came in third in this month’s poll at 13 percent support, slightly more than his 11 percent showing in December’s Loras poll but little closer to breaking into the frontrunners’ battle.

The Loras College telephone poll was conducted from Jan. 13-18 among 500 likely Republican caucusgoers. It had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
