Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson pulled within 1 point of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump in a national Fox News poll released Tuesday.

Trump had 24 percent support of GOP primary voters, followed by Carson at 23 percent.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) had 10 percent.

The poll of was conducted by phone interviews among 1,004 randomly chosen registered voters from Oct. 10-12. The poll was conducted for Fox under the direction of Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research.
