Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by seven points, 51-44, in a head-to-head matchup among likely voters, according to a new NBC News/Survey Monkey tracking poll released on Monday morning. The poll was conducted both before and after the Friday release of a 2005 tape revealing vulgar comments Donald Trump made about women.
Clinton’s lead jumped one point, after she led Trump by six points, 50-44, in last week’s NBC/Survey Monkey tracking poll.
When third party candidates are added to the question, Clinton leads Trump by five points, 46-41, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 8 and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 3 points. In last week’s poll, Clinton led Trump by six points, 46-40, in a four-way race.
The poll shows that 63 percent of voters do not think Trump respects women. In the four days before the video surfaced, 55 percent of voters polled by NBC News/Survey Monkey believed that Trump doesn’t respect women.
TPM’s PollTracker Average shows Clinton leading Trump nationally, 48.2-43.5.
NBC News/Survey Monkey polled 23,329 adults likely to vote in an online survey Oct. 3-9 with a margin of error plus or minus 1 percentage point.
