Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remains the clear national frontrunner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to an NBC/SurveyMonkey poll released Tuesday.

The online poll showed support for Clinton among likely Democratic voters at 51 percent, a lead of 14 percentage points over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who stood at 37 percent. This is a slightly narrower margin than that shown by the previous NBC/SurveyMonkey poll, taken earlier this month, which showed Clinton beating Sanders by 52 percent to 36 percent. Nevertheless, it indicates a stable advantage for Clinton in the national Democratic race which is in stark contrast to the hard-fought contests in Iowa and New Hampshire. In both these early-voting states support for Sanders has surged since December, even as most polling has given Clinton a clear and steady nationwide lead.

The NBC/SurveyMonkey Poll was carried out from Jan. 18-24. Pollsters surveyed 2,780 registered Democratic voters, with a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
