Ben Carson took the lead from Donald Trump among Iowa Republicans in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday.

Among likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers, Carson leads Trump 28-20, while 13 percent supported Sen. Marci Rubio (R-FL) and 10 percent supported Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Carson has an even larger lead over Trump among the women surveyed: 33 percent supported Carson while 13 percent supported Trump. Among the men polled, 25 percent support Carson and 24 percent back Trump.

In an NBC/WSJ poll conducted earlier in October, Trump led Carson 24-19. In the last Quinnipiac poll in Iowa, released in early Sept., Trump led Carson 27-21.

Quinnipiac surveyed 574 likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers via phone Oct. 14-20 with a margin of error plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
