WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has signed legislation to avert another government shutdown and pay for limited fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Press secretary Sarah Sanders says Trump signed the bill at the White House on Friday.
The legislation gives Trump 55 additional miles of border fencing, well short of the 200-plus miles he wanted.
The legislation also keeps parts of the government from shutting down at midnight Friday by providing $333 billion to finance several Cabinet agencies through September.
Trump on Friday declared a national emergency at the southern border and is using his executive authority to tap billions of other government funds to build the wall.
Let me get this straight.
This man is going to challenge the integrity of Congress to apportion funding…and he wants a pat on the back for averting a shutdown whose idea was his alone.
Keep taking it on the chin, America…until he is removed from office, it’s gonna get worse.

Well, that was a whole lot of fuss and bother and structural degradation of our political system and way of life just to get a goddamn routine funding bill signed. Whattaya think, GOP, how’s that makey-Americey greatey-againey thing workin’ out for ya?
Just wait, there is the next budget negotiation, then the Sep 2020 one, and raising the debt ceiling (which probably needs to happen twice as well before the elections). Plenty of time for Trump and Republicans to do their song and dance again, possibly shutting the government down in the process. I do wonder how many Americans are learning the lesson that Republicans are basically unfit to run the nation at this point…that’s going to be a critical factor in what happens in 2020.
Yep, the shutdown of the Trump2020 campaign…
