White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that Democrats’ “only message” for the midterm elections is calling for the President’s impeachment.
The comment came a day after the President’s former fixer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to eight felony charges, two of which Cohen said he carried out at the President’s direction.
“The idea of an impeachment is, frankly, a sad attempt by Democrats, it’s the only message they seem to have going into the midterms,” Sanders said, after a reporter said “some legal experts and lawmakers are saying the President is corrupt, and that there are grounds for an impeachment case.”
Sanders said the calls for impeachment were “another great reminder of why Americans should support other like-minded candidates like the President.”
She added that Democrats’ message was “nothing more than attacking the President and looking at cheap political stunts.”
Is there any evidence Democrats are actually pushing an impeachment message? I know folks like Steyer are bringing it up in campaign ads but it would be interesting to see the ratio of campaign ads about impeachment vs. those about health care, jobs, immigration, etc.-- I’d bet it’s quite tiny. In other words, I’m certain Sanders’ bloviation is BS, but I’d like some substantiation of it.
Not true but doesn’t matter too much. As a campaign slogan, impeachment is looking better all the time.
