President Donald Trump said Monday that he won’t use any information on his 2020 opponent mined by a foreign entity, adding that he “doesn’t need it.”
“All I need is the opponents I’m looking at,” he said with a smirk. “I’m liking what I see.”
Trump was speaking in the Oval Office during a visit by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Special counsel Robert Mueller cleared Trump of colluding with Russia in 2016, though he did not come to a conclusion on obstruction in part because of his belief that a sitting president cannot be indicted.

I’m not sure he was cleared of this, I believe Mueller said he didn’t get full cooperation to make that for sure.
In other words, he already has opposition research from a foreign entity, thinks we won’t discover where he got it and can’t prove it anyway, and fully intends to use it as soon as possible.
