KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) — The wife of a former judge is charged with capital murder in connection with the slayings of a North Texas district attorney, his wife and an assistant prosecutor.

The charge Wednesday against Kim Lene Williams is the latest twist in an investigation that had recently focused on her husband. A law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation says she has been arrested and charged with capital murder.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation into the deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, his wife, Cynthia, and Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse.

Authorities did not describe the evidence against Kim Williams. The official says she is being held on $10 million bond.
