Innocent and overworked Starbucks employees may pay the ultimate price for former CEO Howard Schultz’s announcement that he’s considering launching an independent bid for President.
According to a Wednesday Huffington Post report, Starbucks’ current management sent employees directives on how to deal with customers who might be interested in, angry about or eager to debate about Schultz’s presidential plans.
Here’s a sampling of the advice:
If a customer attempts to investigate, or share aggressive political opinions, attempt to diffuse the situation by sharing:
We respect everyone’s opinion. Our goal is simply to create a warm and welcoming space where we can all gather, as a community, over great coffee.
If asked about Howard’s political intentions:
Howard’s future plans are up to him.
