Camo Heels And ‘The Good Wife’ Suits: Fashion Statements Of The Union

Let’s declare the obsession over Obama’s tan suit over. At Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, the ladies were the real fashion statement makers.

Five Democratic congresswomen wore pink to make a point about the lack of women in Congress — there are currently 104 women to 430 men.

“In a sea of the same old suits and ties, our Democratic House women in pink made a powerful statement last night,” EMILY’s List press secretary Marcy Stech told TPM in an email on Wednesday. “While the Democratic caucus is as diverse as it’s ever been, women are still vastly underrepresented.”

But they weren’t the only women who stood out. Michelle Obama, in what had to be an act of brilliant trolling, wore the same Michael Kors outfit as the first lady on the show “The Good Wife.” Not surprisingly, it sold out over night.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg — “The Notorious R.B.G.” — of course distinguished herself from the drab expanse of male suits.

Newly elected senator and combat veteran Joni Ernst (R-IA), who delivered the official Republican response to the speech, perhaps made the most daring choice in wearing camouflage heels.

  2. Camo heels, with bread bags over them?
