Rep. Nunes On Epithets: When You Use Totalitarian Tactics, People Act Crazy (VIDEO)

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA)

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was asked this morning on Washington Journal about protesters who veered into ugly bigotry and intimidation yesterda on Capitol Hill. His explanation? When Democrats use “totalitarian tactics,” people act crazy.

“The left loves to play up a couple of incidents here or there, anything to draw attention away from what they are doing.”

Just to recount those “couple of incidents”:

Yesterday, a crowd chanted “nigger” at civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and fellow Congressional Black Caucus member Andre Carson (D-IN)

And an elderly white man screamed “Barney, you faggot” at Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA)

Nunes’ take on that?

“When you use totalitarian tactics, people begin to act crazy. And I think, y’know there’s people that have every right to say what they want. If they want to smear someone they can do it. It’s not appropriate. and I think I would stop short of characterizing the 20,000 people who were protesting that all of them were doing that.”

Here’s the video.
