More Virginia voters than not say Gov. Ralph Northam should stay in office despite revelations that he appeared in blackface years ago, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac University.
Forty-eight percent of Virginia voters say Northam should not resign, compared to 42 percent who say he should, Quinnipiac reported. Notably, 56 percent black voters say Northam shouldn’t resign while just 31 percent say he should, per the poll, compared to an even 46 to 46 percent split among white voters.
There’s similarly a 36 to 36 percent split among all voters over whether Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax should resign. Fairfax has been accused by two women of sexual assault.
Quinnipiac said it surveyed 1,150 voters between Feb. 14 through Feb. 18 via landline and cell phones. The poll has a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
Then he should stay - it’s really up to Virginia.
In normal times I would not think that it would be best to let this blow over and move on, but these are not normal times. I’m just glad it is Virginia’s call and not mine.
Right? I’m glad I don’t live there.
I agree he will do as much as possible. because of this incident. use sense Virginia the republicans are out in the onen racists. they would love to topple the democrats and go to their business as usual attacking Minorities its there job
And most don’t want to impeach the motherfucker yet, so…
Truly, I can’t believe we’re at this point in history. The last two years have normalized so much, I wonder people will shrug at in two more years?
(I know, you’ve certainly not shrugged at Northam, I was speaking in general.)
