Hours before throwing the ceremonial first pitch to open the Washington Nationals’ baseball season today, President Obama told TPMDC’s Christina Bellantoni that he “absolutely” had been practicing.
The practice apparently didn’t help. At around 1 p.m., President Obama threw a wild pitch to Nationals catcher Ryan Zimmerman — high and outside.
The President may have been overcompensating for his last ceremonial first pitch — at last year’s All-Star game in St. Louis — which almost skipped off the ground in front of the catcher.
