President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign sent a memo titled “Credibility of Certain Guests” to TV producers on Monday, urging them to “employ basic journalistic standards” when booking guests who, the campaign said, made “false claims” regarding evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia.

According to the memo, “The only way to interpret” Attorney General William Barr’s summary for Congress of special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report “is as a total and complete vindication of President Trump.”

The document then lists various Democratic lawmakers and party chairman Tom Perez and former CIA Director John Brennan. Each name is accompanied by their quotes alleging evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

“Moving forward, we ask that you employ basic journalistic standards when booking such guests to appear anywhere in your universe of productions,” the memo says.

The campaign then suggests a question for news anchors.

You should begin by asking the basic question:

“Does this guest warrant further appearances in our programming, given the outrageous and unsupported claims made in the past? ”

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who was listed in the memo, responded in a tweet:

Various outlets reported on the memo and The Hill confirmed its authenticity with the Trump campaign.

CNBC reported that the memo “was distributed to producers for all the networks and cable outlets.”
