PENNSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A body has been found in the woods near the suburban Philadelphia home of a Marine veteran suspected of killing his ex-wife and five of her relatives.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says the body was found Tuesday afternoon by police looking for 35-year-old Bradley William Stone.
The body was found near Stone’s home. Ferman says authorities are awaiting identification.
The discovery came amid an intense manhunt. Prosecutors say the Iraq war veteran went on a 90-minute rampage before daybreak Monday at three homes a few miles apart.
Schools closed and hospitals and other public places tightened security as SWAT teams and local, state and federal law enforcement swarmed.
It’s the second major manhunt to transfix Pennsylvania in recent months. Eric Frein spent 48 days at large in the Poconos after the September ambush slaying of a state trooper.
