Plouffe On Health Care: ‘Get It Done’ (VIDEO)

David Plouffe, who helped lead then-Sen. Barack Obama to victory in 2008’s presidential election, suggested on MSNBC this morning that last night’s loss in Massachusetts shouldn’t scare Democrats away from passing health care reform.

“On health care, right now, we have a choice as a party,” Plouffe said. “We can cut and run, which I think would be devastating for the country.”

Or we can get this done, and instead of having a caricature of a health care plan, we can get it done, get out there and start to explain it.

Plouffe suggested that it would be very difficult for Republicans to conjure up scary images of health care reform once its changes were actually implemented.

“What they’ve been saying about health care, you’re not going to be able to see your doctor, costs are gonna go up, death panels — none of it’s gonna happen,” Plouffe said, implying that it’s on Democrats to push forward on health care reform so they can start pointing to implemented reforms to dispel GOP claims.
