Linda Downey loves America, and sandwiches.

But her restaurant, Taste of Philly, in Crystal River, Fla. ran into some trouble when the city cited her for flying too many American flags. She was cited for flying six flags, three more than the city allows.

Downey over the weekend went on Fox and Friends to air her grievances over the code violation.

“I have a lot of customers, young boys, that I knew who have eaten in my shop, gone in the military, and we just thought it would be a nice tribute,” she said, describing the inspiration for the flags.

Andy Houston, Crystal River’s city manager, gave Fox this statement regarding the city’s policy:

“The current restrictions on the display of flags within Crystal River were never intended to be anti-American or unpatriotic, the intent was that the display of the American flag be done in a respectful manner and not in a way that was overly-commercialized.”

Downey says it’s a case of political correctness gone wrong. “I think it was probably an oversight,” she said. “Whoever did the code wasn’t even thinking, obviously.”
