CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A spokesman says U.S. Rep. Cresent Hardy of Nevada is recovering after suffering a heart attack.
Larry Farnsworth says the Republican underwent a routine medical procedure after the Monday night incident and remains hospitalized.
Farnsworth says in a news release that Hardy is expected to return to a full schedule later this week.
The 59-year-old Hardy is running for re-election in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, which covers much of southern Nevada, including parts of Las Vegas.
His opponent is Democratic state Sen. Ruben Kihuen, who emerged with a solid primary victory and has support from the powerful Culinary Union.
Hardy rose from roots in ranching and the construction industry and his allies hope his work ethic and down-to-earth style can pull him through a tough campaign.

Given that they will be off for 33 weeks this year, what would a “full schedule” be for a Republican Congressman?
Fingers crossed for him, but I gotta wonder about this. Campaigning is not an easy, low-stress thing. And if the medical procedure was either some kind of clot removal/mashing or a stent, plunging back into the fray during the recovery period might be unwise.
Looks like he needs to lose some weight. Prolly hasn’t been taking very good care of himself.
Good luck to him, I hope he makes a full recovery. I also hope he loses the election.
