EGG HARBOR, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a car has crashed through the front of a Social Security office in New Jersey, injuring at least 16 people.
Egg Harbor Township police say the crash happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday. They say the driver was attempting to park when the car crashed into the building, entering a lobby where many people were waiting.
It wasn’t immediately clear how serious the injuries were, though officials say a female passenger in the vehicle and another person appeared to be critically hurt. Two children also were in the vehicle but they appeared to escape serious injury.
Sixteen people were being treated at hospitals for undisclosed injuries.
Authorities say the crash appears to be an accident. Its exact cause remains under investigation.
Social Security staffers at the scene declined comment.
Off topic. An important message from GOP Jesus:

Wow, parking must be really bad at the Egg Harbor SSA office.
Not to come off as ageist but perhaps people need to retake an annual driving test after they reach a certain age. I recall my dad making the decision to surrender his drivers license at the age of 79. He knew he was no longer healthy enough to make quick decisions and act accordingly. Tough choice for a strong man who had been so independent, so in charge, his entire life.
I once witnessed an elderly woman in the car in front of me accelerate straight at the brick wall of our local post office. Luckily some shrubbery cushioned the crash, and her airbag deployed. She wasn’t seriously injured, but I hope she decided to stop driving after that.
