House Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) is in talks with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to get him to testify about the administration’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, according to a Wednesday Politico report.

Waters also has subpoena power, should Mnuchin prove recalcitrant. She said that the Treasury Department already missed the committee’s deadline to turn over records connected to the lifting of sanctions.

Mnuchin is currently putting up resistance to appear before the House Ways and Means Committee as well.
