NBC isn't commenting on a challenge by talk-show host Lawrence O'Donnell to disclose whether Donald Trump will return next fall with "The Celebrity Apprentice." "NBC has created a monster and it is called Donald Trump," O'Donnell said in a blistering 15-minute rant on Wednesday's edition of his show, "The Last Word," which airs on MSNBC, a sister network of NBC. NEW YORK (AP) — MSNBC says its host Lawrence O’Donnell was injured with his brother Michael in a taxi accident Saturday while vacationing out of the country. The network didn’t specify where the accident occurred.

The two were transported back to the United States — Lawrence to New York and Michael to Boston. They are both under the care of doctors and are expected to make a full recovery, the network said.

O’Donnell will be off the air for several weeks as he recuperates. MSNBC said Alex Wagner is scheduled to sub for him on “The Last Word” on Tuesday, with Ari Melber filling in Wednesday and Thursday.

A political analyst, journalist, writer and producer, O’Donnell has hosted “The Last Word” since 2010. It airs Mondays through Thursdays at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

  1. It has to be serious if they were transported back to the US and Lawrence will be off the air for several weeks.

  2. The article says that MSNBC is not saying where they were when it happened, and that’s probably the corporate line, but Alex Wagner said last night on the show that they were vacationing in the Virgin Islands. So not that far from the US, really.

I don’t know that it necessarily means they were seriously hurt if Lawrence will be off the air for several weeks; maybe his face is bruised and he needs time for it to be presentable again; maybe he has a broken jaw and won’t be able to talk for a while; hard to say.

Alex also said that they had had lots of inquiries from viewers about sending flowers; the hospital where he is does not accept flowers. But she said that the best thing viewers could do for O’Donnell instead was to contribute to his KIND fund.
