It’s become even clearer thanks to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker: Immigration is the banana peel of 2016 Republican presidential politics. Just ask Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. He stepped up as a Senate leader on immigration only to slip and fall in a tea party ruckus over the issue. In a moment of candor, he remembered the months of trying to get back up as “a real trial for me.” Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has a strong voice _ and a book _ on immigration but he’s done some shifting of his own. His statements in support of a path to legal status for people in the country illegally are loud and proud, but a departure from an earlier position that envisaged eventual citizenship. WASHINGTON (AP) — Jeb Bush’s campaign is promising to reveal the names of top money-raisers in October, making him the first Republican presidential candidate since 2008 to take such a step.

Called “bundlers,” these fundraisers gather up many $2,700 checks — the maximum legal limit for the primary contest — from fellow donors, making them critical players in any campaign. There’s no legal requirement to make bundler names public, except in the case of registered lobbyists.

After Bush announced his plan, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign indicated he’ll also disclose bundlers. The other Republican candidates have either declined to follow suit or not responded to requests for comment.

The Republican moves come after Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton said she’ll be releasing names of top fundraisers on Wednesday.
