WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign says it is on track to report that it has raised more than $45 million since its launch in mid-April.
That’s according to a Clinton campaign official who was not authorized to speak publicly about the preliminary fundraising totals and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Clinton official says the previous record of primary money raised in a candidate’s first quarter in the race was $41.9 million, set by President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2011.
Clinton is the leading Democratic presidential contender and will be releasing her first fundraising totals in July. The fundraising quarter ended Wednesday night.
The report will be closely watched to see how her campaign compares to other Democrats and a large field of Republican candidates.

Do you think any of the MSM will have a Goldilocks moment and say that her fundraising is not too hot or not too cold, but just about right? I doubt it. There will probably be headlines like “Trouble Signs For Clinton In Tepid Fundraising” or “Clinton Fundraising Sets Unsustainable Pace.” Feh, pooey.
I hate to say it but I thought it would be higher than that.
It matters less what she says, or how much she got than it does as to who gave it to her. The last thing we need is a billionaire bootlicker as the democratic candidate - it would be harder to distinguish the Dem from the GOPer.
Maybe if she gives out some of that cash like Trump did to get people to attend his announcement she’ll have crowds at her campaign events almost as large as Bernie.
You wouldn’t want to actually learn about who HRC is raising funds from or it would sully your preconceived notions about bootlicking, but you’ll be surprised and disappointed to learn that she is raising most of her funds from among left leaning groups including female donors like Emily’s List.
Just sayin’.
How’s this for a headline from, gasp, the dread NYT, and it’s all good news.
