In an often contentious final gubernatorial debate, Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum and Republican candidate Ron DeSantis squared off, with Gillum’s remarks hitting a crescendo on the topic of race.
“He has neo-Nazis helping him out in the state. He has spoken at racist conferences,” Gillum said. “He has accepted a contribution and would not return it from someone who referred to the former President of the United States as a Muslim [spelled-out N-word].”
“I’m not calling Mr. DeSantis a racist,” Gillum finished. “I’m simply saying that the racists believe he is a racist.”

I SO look forward to seeing Mayor Gillum sworn in as Governor Gillum of FL.
Smart formulation. Gillum is making DeSantis look slow and stupid as well as mean and racist.
I posted this quote on my FB page because it’s one of the most bad ass descriptions of the Republican Party as a whole really. It’s not about whether black folk and other minorities believe they’re racists. It’s that the racists believe they’re racist. Racists keep aligning themselves with the GOP because they’re hearing the dog whistles (bullhorns). That’s the long and the short of it.
And I’m making a prediction right here and right now. If Gillum wins and does well over the next year or so, he’s the nominee. There’s no argument you can make in which he shouldn’t be the nominee or the VP. He’ll bring with him 29 electoral votes and the black vote. He’s Obama 2.0. Plus, he’s got a beautiful family, he’s dark skinned and so is his wife. Black women will have a damn field day campaigning for him.

Did Gillum hand DiSantis his head back to him. or did he just let it roll across the stage, slowly, slowly?
