White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the president and first lady will travel to Wilmington, Delaware, tomorrow, to attend the funeral of the vice president’s mother, Jean Biden.
Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Finnegan Biden passed away Friday at the age of 92. The vice president, who often spoke about his mother’s influence on him during the campaign, said in a statement that she was the “center of our family” and “she believed in us, and because of that, we believed in ourselves.”
Gibbs announced the news of the Obamas’ plans at the beginning of his daily press briefing.
